Ends the day 2A. A field of 2,400 players who came down with incredible speed. In 2412 players are 1359. Crushing speed tables has been spectacular.
The Pavilion room, the mothership of all poker rooms (you should do double as a freezer for the rest of the year, because the air conditioning makes players use thumbtacks arise as card protectors) started the day with nearly 150 tables Participants who were not at the end of the day.
More than a thousand casualties in these two days that are just a preview of the actual WSOP. The blinds go up and down the level of players little “son of a bitch”, the adjective of the Navy for anyone able and willing to make your way through your table hell.
Quinti star of the day 2A
The truth is that it is an unbelievable tournament. We were now in the back of the river, (the only place where smoking is allowed), and the conversations between these cracks were of the style, “these days are still to take them quiet … the 3rd is the day to make chips.” The depth of this tournament has no equal. The admiration of the players in this tournament, quality mix of dead money, with levels that ensure deep poker makes this one of the few things unanimous in this world. What we could be in the middle of the desert in summer?
There’s nothing like the Main Event.
And the organization is not far behind. I do not tire of saying it. Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s. Although this morning I had a WTF moment square head with an American (would not let me film the caravan (for calling something authentic to these mansions on wheels of Ivey and Negreanu) alleging “Homeland security”. I guess that I almost laugh depart in your face, I thought to tell … “do you mean that Al-kaede will explode a plane here to kill Obama Ivey while at Caesars?!” – did not help anything.
“You do not fucking film the doors of my casino!” Was his Ordago. As how they spend here and I have no interest in ending up in a cell, I shut my mouth, but what was it that the organization of the WSOP is amazing (this was the Rio casino, not the event).
It’s amazing how an event of this size works so well. The only complaint I see is the queues in the breaks, but you have to understand that 2400 guys urinals to water change the canary in 20 minutes is a difficult expense to amortize the Main Event … not so much jerking petanque .
But let’s stop saying postpartum (or at least try). Today was another day mixed, with more bad than good. On the positive side you many exciting moments, but also bad. May, Thomas Thomas and little good may have 2nd day, going from least to most everyone on hands played, but almost all results of gray to black.
Leo Margets also left us today, even harder if we think that soared from 5,000 to 50,000 only to lose. I guess when you pass the anger will not regret it because he played a great Main Event. There were beautiful moments, like the seven who played to ensure victory in the flip key. “On 7 Villa!” Sparrow cried before I left the 7c … For a while looked like vultures, all the pending release of all in Leo. Luckily soared. His hacks check raise and squeeze your Main reminded me of last year. He had a good feeling when I got the bad news that his twin had been eliminated by some unlikely double major.
We also let Juan Carlos Mortensen. Seldom can take a picture more beautiful than a player under the banner of victory in the Main. Especially nice was the time he spent with Quinti, reaching east to be encouraged to do one of the structures that have become famous the Slayer.
Continuing with the hard, the elimination of Paco Torres was most cruel that has the poker. Make full on the river when your opponent has you dead to one out from the flop is no escape things. Doubly sad because ‘The Train’ was given in the table show, and deserved more. Another lower than I expected.
And the good ending, the huge boat that was Quinti end of the night … Facing an all in the face in river, Quinti thinks and makes us suffer to be speculating. Finally he says, “if I lose I catch the plane home now directly …” and teaches at a board Kx44x AA. His opponent has KQ. Its celebration cost him a warning that reminds me of the fine that would put “Gone With the Wind” on the heel of Rett Butler at the end of the movie. “Frankly my dear …”
There are fines paid to taste … not standard “against excesive celebration” or milk, if I bend to 150,000 the amount a chicken because I’m worth it.
And finally, Oscar Blanco “The Spike” that after a grueling start on day one continued to demonstrate its quality from start to finish, including some run-ins with a well-known online player (and very “son of a bitch”) ‘Bustosoon’ to finish the day 85,000 in a big way that few for the game unfolded. He had not yet had the chance to see play live to The Spike tabbed today. Everything good that I had been told of his game even comes up short.
Finally, one more day of Groundhog Day has passed … and hopefully tomorrow better.
Comes the bulk of the Navy wind their sails.
Day chip counts 2A
- Luis Miguel Jimenez ‘Quinti’ 150 000
